TOS CREW Review: Kinderbach

I teach private Piano Lessons...as well as other Music Classes... so I was very interested to see what Kinderbach was all about....and so excited when I received it to review...

Kinderbach is a creative and inexpensive way to expose your child to piano and learning musical skills, recommended for ages 3-7. It uses fun characters to teach note reading, rhythm, signing, and composition. Good for either in the home or in the classroom... You absolutely do not need a Piano to do these lessons...a Keyboard is perfect!

According to Kinderbach’s websiteThe best time to learn a language or to begin playing a musical instrument is 3 - 6 years of age.”

Some of K4 listening to different tones and reaching "high", "middle" and "low"....
Many of the lessons include a printable page to reinforce the lesson.... or as an interactive part of the lesson...
imageThe girls were captivated by the videos and enjoyed working along with them...
A nice aspect of the video/ printout session is that they are self correcting....
One thing that I would change to the program is the length of some of the sessions.... a few of them tended to run a little long and we ended up fast forwarding through them.... as the girls lost interest...

KinderBach offers many different purchasing options:
  • Year Membership - $95.88 one-time payment for the year (equivalent to $7.99 a month)
  • Monthly Membership - $19.99 billed monthly
  • Day Pass - $5.95 to try the program for a single day
  • DVDs - See website for various options
As a piano and music teacher, I obviously feel that Private Lessons are superior...however, if you are unable to afford individual lessons or do not have time to schedule them... KinderBach is a great way for your child to learn!!

Musical Mondays - Piano (Music Theory) for Preschoolers

In addition to the Mommy and Me Music Classes...I have also started teaching preschoolers piano lessons...separate from the children who attend Preschool/Tot School at our house....

Ryleigh "walking up" the keys
Primarily I am working with 3 & 4 year olds who are not quite ready to use a standard lesson book....so I have made up my own lessons focusing on beginning music theory at a more elementary level...which are all available on my printables page... I put up a new one every week or so... they are pretty self-explanatory...starting with counting and patterns and gradually introducing the notes... A Piano or keyboard is not necessary for the beginning lessons...

Ryleigh...looking for all the "C" notes on the keyboard...

Musical Mondays- The Piano

Every Monday I teach a Music class for Mommy & Me...in my house...for more information on the class itself go HERE

I have recently decided to start exposing/teaching piano to the older kids in the class...(the 3 year olds)... so I have been doing some research about good methods to use especially for preschoolers....I took what I found- mixed them all together and added my own tweaks here and there....

The first lesson is pitch/octaves/tune... I used Goldilocks and the Three Bears to demonstrate this. The lower keys were Papa Bear, The middle keys were Mama Bear, The higher keys were Baby Bear....and a slide of the keys represents Goldilocks.... I then told the story of the three Bears and Goldilocks and had Ryleigh hit the appropriate keys....

Ryleigh doing "Baby Bear keys"...the higher octaves on the scales...
Ryleigh working with the "Mamma Bear Keys" ... the middle notes.....
Ryleigh starting the "goldilocks" run of the keys... (I think this was her favorite part)
Braeden watching his sister play the piano...
perplexed as to why she is not playing with him....

*Notice Elmo attended the lesson as well....as you can see by his feet in the pictures...
