Field Trippin.... Pumpkin Pickin...

To end our unit study on "Farms" and begin our Fall theme, Sarah Beth Academy (What I named our school )... went Pumpkin Picking to a Family Farm.... The kids ages ranged from not quite 3 months to 3rd Grade.... 

 Before the tour began the kids got out some of their energy...

 Braeden ran around in circles...

 The first activity was to go on a tractor pulled wagon ride....

 The kids were excited to pick their own pumpkin off of the vine...

 They were also allowed to each pick radishes...

 The kids also got to see newborn bunnies... still in their next in the ground...

 The kids got to learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin.... 

 and that a pumpkin is a fruit.... (go figure!)

 and that the ridge on the outside of the pumpkin is called a rib...

 They also learned about the parts of corn...

Field Trippin' ... to the Historic Living Museum...Mumford...

At the end of the Summer while we were upstate, we took a field trip to Mumford.... I had about 100 pictures... but narrowed them down to 25...ish...and now I should be all caught up with the summer and past posts...except for the first two weeks of school...

Mumford is a living, working 19th century country village...and it is AWESOME... I used to go frequently growing up...and was very excited to take my children to it. They have over 40 furnished buildings that have been restored and costumed interpreters working throughout the village...

The Village includes buildings from the Pioneer settlement 1795 to Turn of the Century (1880-1920).... So Much FUN!!!!Rural School House 1822

Listening to a little bit about what went on during the 1800's in school... also... I totally have these chalkboards this year for our school...well similar... from handwriting without tears... how neat-o is that?

This was in the farm section...what- oh- what... could Braeden be pointing at ....and wanting to ride?....

The Brewery...they actually make beer here... and you can purchase it in the restaurant area...

Miss Ryleigh... she wore her cutie pa-tutie pink crocks...and they hurt the side of her foot...so...she needed to rest it... she may take after me....:-)

Watching a broom making demonstration....it was really neat to watch him braid the broom...

Taking a moment to let the kids run... they were SO good going through the exhibits from building to building....

A finishing school for girls....it was very interesting to look through the period maps of the State of New York...and the Country... lots of differences from today's maps!

A tavern... that had children's toys... they liked this marble game...

An Attorney's Office...obviously I wanted to go see that one...

Inside the Attorney's office... it was awesome to look at the types of law books that they had back in the 1800's...

A bill from the mid 1800's... for $9 and change for a Real Estate Matter.... I charge slightly more than that for my closings... ;-)

The kids running again... this time we are right outside of the entrance...by the time they made it all the way across the field they were exhausted!

Field Trippin' .... to the National Play Museum... Rochester

While we were upstate we checked out the Rochester National Play Museum with some of my friends...so ... much... fun!!! I think I have narrowed the pictures down from 270+ to about 45... You Are Welcome!!! Please also keep in mind that we only saw half the museum...imagine how many pictures there would be if we had seen the entire thing!

When you walk into the museum the first thing you see is the carousel...

It was a little difficult to get Braeden past the first attraction... a.k.a... the lobby....

This was my favorite part....for obvious reasons... oh how we miss Wegmans! ... This was a miniature Wegmans grocery store... LOVE IT!!!

The checkout was awesome... the belt really moved, they actually got to scan the items...and a receipt... with WEGMANS' name on it...with their items listed..
