stART - Ten Little Ladybugs

A STORY + ART = A GREAT stART!!!!
For this week's project, we read Ten Little Ladybugs... A great counting book...from 10-1.... Ryleigh is very into counting now and has taken a new found interest in this book (I actually got it for my baby shower 3 years ago...)

For her Birthday, Ryleigh received the "magic grow" capsules that turn into sponge bugs...very cute... after having the fun of watching the bugs "grow" she used them as stamps and painted with them...

Ryleigh dropping in the capsules...
Watching them appear...
Touching them...because they looked fun...
Braeden...scooting across the floor to see what all the fuss is about...
it's his "I'm coming to get you Ryleigh look"...then she runs and he bounces after her....
Some of the Bugs/Insects/Butterflies out of water...
Using them as stamps during "school time"...

The finished picture... she used a paintbrush at the end...

I never thought to use those as stamps after they grew. Great idea. I remember playing with those when I was little.

Very cute!! I totally forgot that I had some of those in my closet, we will have to do them later this weekend. Emily had a lot of fun painting with them. Great idea.

Thank you for linking up to stART!!!

We've got those too. Great idea to use them as stamps - then you can just toss when you're done!

We have zillions of those capsules - I always have a problem of what to do with the results. We tried to stamp with them as well, but as you might have found out, it doesn't quite work :) We enjoyed this book too some time ago.

The result looks a little like the squashed bugs on my car! Still, it does look like a fun project.

I never thought of using capsule sponges for art projects! And thanks for reminding me to get out our Ten Little Ladybugs book - it's with the baby board books, and I didn't think about using it now for my 3 year old and counting.
