This week for our stART project, we read Today is Monday by Eric Carle. Ryleigh and I really like the bright colors throughout the story...I also like it because of the repetition of the days of the week...anyway...toward the end of the "story" there is a monkey who has got an interesting pattern about him...so I had the girls try and duplicate that look. We used toothpicks to scratch lines in a foam circle.... then we painted the circles and put them face down on the paper...then removed them...in short...we made stamps :) The pattern did transfer nicely to the paper and if you use your imagination... it resembles the look of the monkey in the book...the pattern...not the shape... and 3 stars for you if you have followed anything that I have written above...off to get some coffee...

Your post was not hard to follow at all (maybe because I'm in an equally coffee depleted state) - and what a excellent art exercise, you came up with!

What a cute craft! I love Eric Carle books :-)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter enjoys marking days off her calendar. Bet she'd like a story that discusses the days of the week.
ReplyDeleteWe love this song, it is on one of Emily's Elephant Show DVD's. I want to try making prints with Emily, I will have to try this. To bad I missed TOTSchool on this day :0)
