Toward the end of each music class, I bring out the gathering drum which most of the kids really like. I try and do it every class, as a signal that the instrument portion of class is over. I have them "pound and pound and pound and STOP" and then put their hands on their heads.... in a sequence of three..... getting them to follow multi-step directions. We then either do rhythm patterns that they individually repeat or the alphabet song with the drum. This week was the alphabet song.

Here some of the kids are playing with the drum.
