Braeden turned two in the middle of August... and it coincided with our annual block party... twice the party...twice the fun... our theme was Thomas the Train...Braeden was so excited to ride his car outside...in the street...and was in fact... quite FAST on it... we took turns jogging after him....
Ryleigh played on this giant bouncing slide for 3 hours...

Field Trippin' ... to the Corning Glass Museum....

This summer we went to the Corning Glass Museum in upstate New York ... and did not break anything while we were there...Watching a demonstration of how they made glass beads/ bowls in the (1600's ?)... I don't remember exactly what era this was... but... a fascinating process!
Looking at so many pretty glass objects from the 1600-1700's... all behind glass... and keeping Braeden contained... can we say Bull in a china shop... YIKES!!!
From the late 1800's....
Glass Music Instruments... including a glass flute... from the 1700-1800 hundreds...
Glass Science instruments...
Looking through a telescope at the City of Corning...
Looking through the glass... for special effect...
We got to watch a live showing of how they make glass mugs... so fun... and interesting... we got to watch from the beginning where they have a glob of melted glass... to the end...after they have shaped it and added color...
Putting the handle on the mug...

Ryleigh and Braeden came up with their own version of the "cape"... a.k.a. Daddy's t-shirt tied by the sleeves... Running around the house at full speed.. I am not sure who was chasing who... or if it even mattered...

Messy Summer Fun... Week 5.... the finale...

This week was our Messy Summer Fun Finale....and we had 17 kids...17!!!! So Messy...So Fun!!! We did Toilet Paper Mache... I did this last year with Ryleigh and thought...hmmm.. so messy...perfect for a ton of kids... :-)

I covered plastic cups with plastic wrap...and then had the kids (moms) dip toilet paper into a glue/water solution I made... then stick them on the cups...The older kids (ages 4 and up) caught on to this project and were able to do it themselves (wanting to stick their hands into the goo was a different matter)....
The younger kids (ages 14 months- 3) had a different reaction...they were either SO into it...or really appalled at the thought... Can you guess how Braeden felt about it?
Appalled....
Ryleigh loved it...
Since the shaving cream balloons were such a big hit from earlier this summer, I decided to do them again... and water balloons...
Still a kid favorite!
I think pretty much all the kids were covered...
I'm not sure exactly how this happened... but I have an idea... Sorry Kara!!! :-)
For the water activity/ gross motor skills... we set up a bounce house with a water slide...
How many kids can you fit in one of these?
The water-slide was a fun way to end the messy summer...
The water slide resembled sprinklers too much...so Braeden watched from the top of the club house..
Ending the day with Popsicles...
Hopefully I haven't completely scared away the mommies and they will come back next summer!
