School Daze - Week Twenty-Four

Ryleigh is 36 Months and Braeden is 8 months

This week was more laid back with very few activities...we started with Music...had the Letter of the Week, a stART project, worked on some new printables, went to dance and had some fun with friends...

Ryleigh loves these--the washcloths that you put in water to expand...

The girls did T is for Tree...we used brown construction paper for the T (trunk)
and had the girls sponge paint green for the leaves...
The girls also did some printables that I made...including a new NUMBER MATCH...

She worked on some pre-handwriting pages from Confessions of a Homeschooler

Working on her stART project...
it was a painted umbrella with numbers and stickers for counting...
Michelle made a great printable for Which one of these is different...Ryleigh LOVED it...Michelle offers it for free on her website (A Mommy's Adventures)

My Grandparents got Ryleigh an easel for her Birthday...she totally loves it!
Here (Great) Grandad and Ryleigh are going over their letters...

Opening some gifts before dinner...
Ryleigh turns 3!!! Blowing out her candles...yes those are cookies...
TINY TOT SCHOOL

Braeden got to spend some quality time with his girls this week...lots of socializing...
I'm loving the look on his face here....notice the eyebrow furrows...

This is his "tired" face...he was waiting patiently for his sister to
finish projects so he could go home and take a nap...

Watching Ryleigh open up some of her Birthday gifts...
wondering when dinner is happening....

CSN $60 GIVEAWAY!!!!

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED.
Congratulations to drinckey....you are the winner of the $60 gift certificate to CSN stores.com!

CSN.Com recently contacted me to offer one of my readers a gift certificate in the amount of $60.00....how fantastical is that? I have used CSN.com in the past to order music instruments for the music class that I teach...however- they have over 200 stores...which pretty much means you can find whatever you are looking for... (And the winner can use the gift certificate to purchase something from any of those stores...)

Some of the kids playing with the wave drums I purchased through csn.com

They sell tons of Melissa and Doug toys which we use a lot of for "school"...As our living room is in need of a TV stand, I was thinking of looking at entertainment centers, I even checked CSN.com for them...(they have them! ... Rack and Stands. com) Seriously, they have pretty much everything and anytime that I have ordered from them it came quickly and accurately....

Now for the giveaway: you get to choose anything from their stores, up to $60.

stART - Eency Weency Spider

A story + Art = A great stART!
For this week's stART project we read Eency Weency Spider. It is super cute...there are 10 spiders trying to get up the water spout...and (I don't want to ruin the ending...but...) it rains and they all get washed out...but the eency weency spider climbs up... It's great for counting practice.

While I was at my friend Dawn's house earlier this week, I noticed a very cute (and practical) project that she had done with her daughter...it was an umbrella with numbers and stickers on it (for counting)... I thought Ryleigh would like to do the project...and since our story had rain...that is how they are [loosely] tied together...

First Ryleigh painted with watercolors on the umbrella....

After the paint had dried, we put the numbers and stickers on the umbrella....
Our finished umbrella...

For more great stART projects check out A Mommy's Adventures!

SCHOOL DAZE - WEEK TWENTY- THREE

Ryleigh is 35 Months and Braeden is 8 Months
This week we did a lot of activities...however... between my camera not cooperating and my computer shutting itself down every 5 minutes or so... this is what is left... I am going to try my best not to throw the computer out the window before finishing this post...which I have to keep saving every so often for fear that I will loose the whole thing...anyway....

Music Class:
Here are some pictures from our music class this week...Hopefully Monday there will be a new Music Post up....
Some of the kids around the drum...
the class has gotten so big I really need more than one..
.
Letter of the Week:
I had the girls do "S" is for "Stars" this week...we used star stickers and stuck them onto the S...a fantastical fine motor skill practice as well....
Pre-Math:
I printed off these cards from Confessions of a Homeschooler and then Michelle laminated them...then we added in the clothespins...
The girls also did these printables that I made...
Ryleigh is all about counting these days...

We also used the felt board some more for pattern work...
the girls continue to love this activity..
The Alphabet and Pre-writing:
I had the girls do these printables for letter find...we used the bingo markers...
I let Ryleigh use my computer to do some Alphabet Games Online...she loved it!!! This picture is of her using the Fisher Price website and doing the Letter Zoo Game...
I had Ryleigh use an over-sized thumbtack and punch out the letters A & B...
I put cardboard behind the computer paper to protect the trays...
I saw this activity on Confessions of a Homeschooler and thought I would give it a try...

We also worked on these printables for shape recognition and tracing... Ryleigh gets better and more focused each time we do this activity (or similar ones)...I put them in a page protector and use a dry erase marker...
Other Fun Activities:
Painting with a q-tip

Some outdoor fun...
Tiny Tot School:
Braeden is only 8 months old...so we don't really do any school activities yet... I know...shocking...but he loves to play with his sister, his farm house shapes, blocks and stacking cups... and I like taking pictures of his many cute expressions...

These last two are my favorite of the week...
In this one he is watching his sister trace shapes.....
and in this one, I think he is asking me why I am STILL taking pictures...
but I can't be sure...
